Memories of a not too distant future...
“Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” It remains to be seen how much we’ve learned from this experience, but now it’s time to look to the future. After a year of “adapting to the situation,” preparations for post-pandemic life have begun. Will our day-to-day life go back to how it was before, or have things changed forever? Here’s a glimpse at what might come next.
MUST-READS
Snap back to reality
With everything opening up again, there’s been plenty of talk about returning to normal. A year and a half of living in our respective bubbles has us re-evaluating what that actually means. It has given us plenty of time to reconnect with ourselves and our community. We’ve had more time to focus on our mental health and our passion projects, something we couldn’t do before. So why would we go back to the way things were? That’s the question on everyone’s mind.
“ID and vaccine passport please”
With a growing number of the population getting vaccinated, governments are focusing on getting the ball rolling again. How do you do that without risking another wave? The answer for some governments seems evident: vaccine passports. It sounds great on paper, but questions of logistics, privacy and “interoperability” come into play. Stay tuned. We might soon be adding it to our vacation packing list.
To work from home, or not to work from home?
It’s a question without an answer. A year and a half after being told to work from home, we’re still working from our domestic spaces. Now the issue is getting people back into the office, and opinions are divided. Employees seem happy swapping morning commutes for an extra hour of sleep. Employers paying rent for downtown office spaces are leaning towards bringing everyone back in. Everyone’s got a say, but as for the right way, well, that remains to be seen...
SEIZE THE DAY
Engage hybrid mode
There’s nothing like a dynamic, open workspace to get those creative juices flowing. But it turns out our Camden team can get it done from anywhere. That’s why we’re opting for a hybrid mode that lets employees choose where they want to work from.
BY THE NUMBERS
1,560,000
An unopened copy of Super Mario 64, first released in 1996, was just sold for a record $1.56 million at an auction (original retail price: $60). Since the pandemic started, there’s been a huge boom in the memorabilia market, and collectors anticipate demand will only increase from here. If this is a sign of things to come, it might be worth taking special care of your video game collection. Who knows, we might soon be swapping Gameboys for Bitcoins.
